240 years ago, our founders changed the way peoples looked at and interacted with their governments. By declaring that “All men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursiut of Happiness.” Never before had a government been founded upon such principles. No government had ever admitted its own need for change. The brilliance of our founders is that they set up a government that could be bettered and perfected. Our Constitution has been amended twenty-seven times! In which we reaffirmed that all mankind is created equal, regardless race or gender, and their freedoms are not dispensation of government. 

But relating to the founders today, being able to truly appreciate the gravity of our freedom seems distant to grasp. Let’s meditate on the things, 240 years later, that still set us apart from many places in the world! 

In many parts of Asia and Africa, many young girls around the world are denied the basic right to pursue an education.

In America, while we may not like the out comes, our more recent elections (save 1960, 1968, and 2000) have gone unquestioned and undisputed. The same cannot be said for Austira, its Constitutional Court has ordered a new Presidential Election beheld because of voter fraud, “77,926 of the 4.5 million votes cast were affected by improprieties in how mail-in ballots were processed.” 

  • Equal Rights

While this conversation continues today about the treatment and employment practices concerning African-Americans, Women, and the LGBT community, America is still by far the most progressive (and humane) country on these issues. 

Everyday, right here in America, we get to decide our future and how we wish to pursue our American Dream and pursue our happiness because we have education for all, because we have fair elections, and we, generally speaking, have made strides to ensure the protections of our inalienable rights endowed to us by our Creator. And while America is far from perfect, we can continue to perfect it. That is what makes having an engaged and informed citizenry so important to the endurance of this country. That is what makes your voice so important. One vote won’t change an election, but 300 Million informed votes, cannot only transform America, but effectively, the world. 

“We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”

When was the last time you picked up the phone to talk to a family member about this upcoming election? And not just the presidential election; the school board, city council, state legislature, courts, congress? Each one, believe it or not, is equally important and affects our lives in such minute, and not so minute, ways that greater investment and involvement would truly transform our country. 

So get out there, get in formed, and inform your friends and family; then make them do the same!

A President’s Folly

I took issue with some of the President’s remarks last night. Well first I will mark my support with his last phase,”Freedom is more powerful than Fear.” Channeling a little FDR on the eve of the anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.

My first question: Why was he not sitting behind his desk? Every President before him has shown their seriousness by sitting behind the Resolute Desk. Note: Resolute. 

Second Question: Why will he not call ISIS/ISIL for what it is? Radical Islamic Terrorism. We can all agree that this is a perversion of Islam that all decent Muslims reject. But we must call it for what it is. The time for political correctness ended a long time ago. And with the bloodshed in France and California, it’s past time to get serious about defeating ISIS/ISIL or as the President previously referred to it: the JV Team. 

Last question: Why must he politicize every death with Gun Control? Most gun violence is committed by those who have no criminal background—nothing a background check would’ve picked up. Instead, we must encourage every citizen to protect themselves, become educated on how to properly handle arms, how to prevent crimes, to inform the proper authorities if someone shows distressing mental issues or showing signs of radicalization. 

I want to add I agree with his remarks about Muslim-Americans. We are not at war with Islam, just as President Bush made clear days after the Attacks on September 11th, 2001. We are at war with Radical Islamic Jihadist, those who wish to kill nonbelievers. But we are not out to start targeting Muslims the way FDR and the Democrats dehumanized Asian-Americans after Pearl Harbor. Although we must not be afraid to speak out when we see any suspicious activity of any kind as the neighbor of the San Bernardino terrorist had failed to do. We must not be silent in the pursuit of keeping the public safe.  

We must reject this notion that the Middle East is to be a dumping ground for violence, that there is no hope for peace in the Middle East. There can be peace.  But it must be peace on our terms. Peace means every child, every girl, gets an education. Peace means Christians, Jews, and Muslims can worship in harmony. Peace means the People can choose the type of government they have. It will take a statesman of the highest degree to achieve this. 

We need another Eisenhower, another Kennedy, or another Reagan. Someone who will clearly identify the enemy and who will have a firm resolve to confront it head on. President Reagan did this, even when the media and democrats where aghast when he called Russia “the Evil Empire.” He understood how we must preserve freedom. At any cost, at any expense, and by any means. 

And as we remember Pearl Harbor, we must remember our resolve after that horrible attack. We must defeat this enemy that abhors everything we stand for. Now just as then, there are those who wish to take away the freedoms we know are given to us by our Creator. Yet when our security is at risk, we cannot jump to limit liberty or else the enemy has won. Those who wish to harm us would rather see us self-destruct rather than send their people to die, although they’ll do it without hesitation. 

The next President will be tasked with putting the nail in the coffin of ISIS/ISIL. We will not win this war with ISIS/ISIL if we do not declare it and treat it as a war. In the wake of Paris, the fear grew that it would come here. It’s here. It’s been here. The Next Preisdent must prepare for a fight that we cannot afford to lose.

 Because we will not survive this appeasement. Appeasement is not peace. Appeasement is a form of surrender and surrender is no form of peace.

Controversy of the Week: A&E vs Duck Dynasty (Reader Discretion is Advised)

Haven’t heard the news?
Phil Robertson has been “placed… under hiatus from filming indefinitely” from the show based around his family and their business.

Why?

In an interview for GQ’s January 2014 issue , he made these comments

“Start with homosexual behavior and just morph out from there. Bestiality, sleeping around with this woman and that woman and that woman and those men,” he says. Then he paraphrases Corinthians: “Don’t be deceived. Neither the adulterers, the idolaters, the male prostitutes, the homosexual offenders, the greedy, the drunkards, the slanderers, the swindlers—they won’t inherit the kingdom of God. Don’t deceive yourself. It’s not right.”

If you know Hollywood/Mainstream Media Politics, criticizing homosexuals is the big NO NO!

We’ve seen feuds between companies such as Chick-Fil-A and Starbucks over the issue; even singer-song writers have tackled the issue as well.

So who is Phil Robertson?

He was a poor farming boy born and raised in Louisiana, the Robertsons lived in a restored log cabin and he was an up and coming football player at Louisiana Tech and ahead of Terry Bradshaw in the 1970 NFL Draft. But he chose his true love over sports…

Hunting.

“The quarterback playing ahead of me, Phil Robertson, loved hunting more than he loved football. He’d come to practice directly from the woods, squirrel tails hanging out of his pockets, duck feathers on his clothes. Clearly he was a fine shot, so no one complained too much.”

“According to Phil’s autobiography—a ghostwritten book he says he has never read—he spent his days after Tech doing odd jobs and his evenings getting drunk, chasing tail, and swallowing diet pills and black mollies, a form of medicinal speed. In his midtwenties, already married with three sons, a piss-drunk Robertson kicked his family out of the house. “I’m sick of you,” he told his wife, Kay. But Robertson soon realized the error of his ways, begged Kay to come back, and turned over his life to Jesus Christ.”

He starts Duck Commanders and the rest is tv history.

A+E issued the following statement: “We are extremely disappointed to have read Phil Robertson’s comments in GQ, which are based on his own personal beliefs and are not reflected in the series Duck Dynasty. His personal views in no way reflect those of A+E Networks, who have always been strong supporters and champions of the LGBT community. The network has placed Phil under hiatus from filming indefinitely.”

The church that the Robertsons attend and where Phil Robertson is an elder, White’s Ferry Road Church of Christ in West Monroe, La., has received hundreds of phone calls from fans across the country, said Mike Kellett, the senior pastor.

“It seems to me people are tolerant of views except Christianity,” Kellett said. “I don’t have anything to say about the wording in it. I would express things differently, but that’s Phil.”

The Robertsons are part of Churches of Christ, a conservative denomination of 13,000 U.S. congregations that says that “God remains consistent in His condemnation of homosexuality as He does for all other sins.”

GLAAD (formally known as the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation) representative Wilson Cruz responded to Robertson’s remarks with a statement:

“Phil and his family claim to be Christian, but Phil’s lies about an entire community fly in the face of what true Christians believe. He clearly knows nothing about gay people or the majority of Louisianans — and Americans — who support legal recognition for loving and committed gay and lesbian couples.

“Phil’s decision to push vile and extreme stereotypes is a stain on A&E and his sponsors who now need to reexamine their ties to someone with such public disdain for LGBT people and families.”

Even Sarah Palin even took to twitter

What’s Bique Got To Say About All Of This?

In my humble opinion,
A&E was stupid to air a show about a Family with strong biblical values if they are “Champions of the LGBT community”. It would be like if the Robertsons were a Jewish or Musilm family and made the same comments for the magazine (GQ). There also seems to be a certain ignorance on the issue of Marriage, Government, and Religion. My point being that A&E agreed to air the show knowing well that the Robertson’s are deeply rooted in their faith. And they should know that most religious doctrine frown upon homosexuality.

Now I will venture to say that this is not a real first amendment issue. As an employee of A&E, his comments and actions reflect on the company. A&E is not a Government institution. They have the right to take that course of action.

Now as his comment has consequences, so does the actions of A&E.

Let’s take this into consideration.

“Walmart announced at their annual shareholders meeting that the best-selling item of apparel for both men and women this year was the reality show’s T-shirt, according to Forbes.
Forbes writer Claire O’Connor said: ‘When I was down in Arkansas for this Walmart meeting, you really do marvel at the amount of people who are wearing these Duck Dynasty T-shirts and hats.
‘There are kids pajamas, there is camo bedding and you probably won’t be surprised to hear that they sell Duck Dynasty prayer devotionals.’
This also includes the No. 1 country album on Billboard for the month of November, Duck the Halls.”

Duck Dynasty has become one of the most popular, profitable, and beloved shows on TV. It’s the family friendly alternative to other reality TV shows surrounding promiscuity. Hence why this will hurt A&E more than justify the LGBT community.

And that’s not all..

Glenn Beck offered these words to the Robertsons’

“You will either be out, or you will be the most powerful people the country has ever seen on television,” Beck said. “You already have all of the juice you’re ever gonna get … And if you take a stand and they fire you … we’ll be on the phone.”

“We would be proud to have you,” he added.

This is a very exciting invitation that took twitter like storm, resulting in the hashtag: #DuckDynastyOnTheBlaze

In Conclusion

The Robertsons’ are here to stay with or without Phil and on or off of A&E.

This controversy has only made them more popular and A&E less tolerant of Christians.

So let’s get this straight… (No pun intended)
A&E wants others to be tolerant of the LGBT Community but they can not be tolerant of the views and beliefs of practically every religious doctrine. It is only in the Middle East where homosexuals are being persecuted. You can ask any well read Christian and they’ll tell you that Homosexuality is no more worthy of damnation in hell than lying, stealing, lust, adultery, and yes just like Phil said bestiality. So, speaking as member of the Church of Christ, Phil is not comparing the two acts of Homosexuality and Bestiality, but rather than placing it in the big picture of man’s imperfections compared to God. I think the problem is that many non-Christians don’t understand it because they don’t wear the same glasses, we don’t have the same perspective. That’s the real issue. Respecting the perspective of others. For Phil, this is about saving souls so that they may rejoice at the return of his Christ. In no way is he demonizing the LGBT community. Even in these comments:

“It seems like, to me, a vagina—as a man—would be more desirable than a man’s anus. That’s just me. I’m just thinking: There’s more there! She’s got more to offer. I mean, come on, dudes! You know what I’m saying? But hey, sin: It’s not logical, my man. It’s just not logical.”

It’s, perhaps, a lack of understanding or perspective of homosexuals. Obviously there’s more than just sex but he’s trying convey his own perspective and opinion. I couldn’t find any mallace or hate in his comments. Now were they unkempt or ill-mannered? Indeed. But once again, perspective. Growing up in the Deep South can not compare to the culture of Massachusetts or Califiornia. So, I think we can all find the tolerance in ourselves to respect the perspective of one another.

Would MLK be accepted into Today’s Society?

In this age of political correctness, any mummer of religious material, ideology and things of that nature (especially Christian) are refuted by the media. Usually those expressing these words are considered “intolerant”, this is because most religious Doctrines don’t speak favorably to many social issues and aspects of our considerably immoral society; things such as: premarital sex, homosexuality, out-of-wedlock births, and divorce.

So we have an understanding of religions’ place in our modern society.

Here’s my question.

Would Dr. King be accepted by today’s society and media?

Think about it, could a baptist preacher get so far with national recognition and acclaim in our “tolerant” society? How could he get away with praising The Christian God’s name at a historical monument today with the liberal “lap-dog” media?

He wouldn’t

Let me show you a few examples.

Senator Tim Scott (SC-R)
– Devout Christian
– Pro-life
– Pro-Traditional Marriage

Dr. Ben Carson (MI-I)
– Seventh-Day Adventist
– Pro-Traditional Marriage
– Pro-Corporal Punishment
– Politically Incorrect

These are African American Christians, they may not be Priests like Dr. King, but the media can’t stand them.

Why?

They practice what they preach.

What about our President?

He’s a Christian, right?

Right, but he’s been very hypocritical of his religion.

The bible talks about not binding yourself to things of the world and being our brothers keeper.

So then why would the President be so determined to invest in Government Aid? Wouldn’t he ask Americans to take these responsibilities?

Wouldn’t he say something to this affect?

We have a long way to go in America. Many of our neighbors are still suffering and I’d be compromising my conscience if I said Government had all the answers. But hear me out: I believe in the generosity of our nation. I believe if we are our brothers keeper that our nation’s prosperity would increase ten fold. I happen to believe in a God that rewards, recognizes and blesses. Not only that but I know that the ingenuity and innovation of the private sector and our religious institutions of every kind could take care of our needy better so than the Government.

Right?

If he followed the teachings of bible he wouldn’t support Gay Marriage, but he would defend the Constitutional rights of all Americans.

If the President closely followed the Constitution, then he would advocate government recede from marriage; Because its not in the Constitution.

Hear me out

I’m not questioning our President’s faith, we all fall short of God’s Glory and that’s expected, but there’s an expectation of integrity that should be expected if you’re going to subscribe a specific ideology.

Back to Dr. King

Think about it, could anyone get away referencing to

“That old Negro Spiritual”

Most likely not.

A Lost Dream?

On August 28th, it is the 50th Anniversary of MLK Jr’s “I have a Dream” Speech. This is such a momentous occasion. I’d say its almost as famous and as well known as Lincoln’s Gettysburg Address.

What’s the Dream?

Lets refresh ourselves with the enlightening words of Dr. King.

“I have a dream that little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character.”
~ Martin Luther King Jr.

He dreamed that there would be an equal playing field for all people of color.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident; that all men are created equal.”

Not that we’d have a “War on Poverty” that would amount in Billions in Government Aid but give African Americans the opportunities to be prosperous. What we should seek is an equality in opportunity, NOT in result. It’s simply not how liberty works.

Define these “Opprotunites”

Education.

During this time schools where segregated by race. And we know the “Black or Colored” Schools were not equal next to their racial counterparts.

The comparative quality of education among rich and poor districts is still often the subject of dispute. While middle class African-American children have made good progress; poor minorities have struggled. With school systems based on property taxes, there are wide disparities in funding between wealthy suburbs or districts, and often poor, inner-city areas or small towns. “De facto segregation” has been difficult to overcome as residential neighborhoods have remained more segregated than workplaces or public facilities.

Now in this age of technology, every American, white or black, can obtain great amounts of knowledge. There is a world of knowledge in the palm of your hands. Never more in our country’s history has there been such an equal playing field of knowledge to build on and get ahead.

So what’s the hold up.

Our politically correct society, we have held back the wheels of progress by not looking any further than our brothers’ skin color… Depending which side of the political spectrum you’re on.

But it’s gotta start in our hearts. We’ve got to forgive the past and look forward to a bright future full of opportunities and prosperity, but were holding ourselves back when we discuss race relations in America like Birmingham happened yesterday. It starts today. Let it begin with you and me.

America.

We are a nation of ideas. An nation that believes every man is

“Created Equal.”

Americans can determine their own destines and they aren’t bound to their social status. A young man or woman born in extreme poverty can make something of himself or herself.

Ben Carson is a good example.

He grew up in a single parent home, now statisticly, we know that young men and women who grow up in sigle parent house holds are much less likely rto be sucessful. But in the Carson household Sonya Carson, Ben’s illiterate mother, refused to let her boys fail in life. She wanted more for them. She pushed them in school and fast forward to today, Ben Carson is the formost authority on child neurology in the world.

Lets talk Bill Clinton Now

His father passed away before his birth and his stepfather was an abusive alcoholic. Although things weren’t exactly ideal, he was in a family setting were he was more likely to thrive. Wether it be in the Arts, his studies, or public speaking. He was track to become President of the United States.

Here’s where Bill loses me

He has a wife, daughter and a world of endless possibilities. And he goes off and has extramarital affairs.

What does that say about his character?

What type of man he is?

And this happens twice!

You know the saying

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

And then putting America through the mockery of an impeachment trial. Maybe he should’ve taken a note from Richard Nixon, whom he would become good friends with, and resigned.

Because doesn’t the American people deserve that? An honorable President? Shouldn’t the standard be raised on ALL of our elected officials?

Now we get the likes of Anthony Wiener and Co.

Wiener: Sexting and running a Mayoral Campaign for NYC all at the same time! Must be exhausting.

Mark Sanford: Marrying Mistress and elected back into politics!

Bob Filner: Sexually harasses women and RESIGNS. Thank God!

This is just to name a few.

But shouldn’t we strive to elect decent men and women who fulfill their duties of Office and the Expectations that should come with it or we oust them next election? Isn’t it as simple as that?

Nope.

Now that we live in a sexually promiscuous society where extramarital affairs (Kennedy/Clinton) are cool! And who hasn’t sexted like Anthony Wiener aka “Carlos Danger”?

How can we expect our civil servants to be honorable and to be honest, when many Americans lead two faced or promiscuous lives themselves?

What’s the point of having morals if they are only good for Sunday morning, if that anymore?

Everyone’s tired of the normal ‘business as usual’ in Washington. Yet come November people re-elected the same cowards back to office just to complain about them again in the days to come.

So we’ve got to decide wether we want to care. If you want a responsible representatives then you’re gonna have to read the paper, watch the news, go to events and things of that nature. An educated voter is the best type of voter.

A Changing World

When you see someone, a girl in this case, post things like this on social media

“Society can’t tell you what you are. Because this is the same society that tells you abortion is wrong, but then looks down on you for being a teenage parent…

Governments that preach peace, but endorse wars.”

I felt the need to comment.

“Abortion is wrong because that’s a child’s life, but children shouldn’t be having children. Because they can’t support it on their own and it reflects on their upbringing.

Governments are supposed to protect people (I’m doubting ours right now) and when people drive planes into buildings what are you going to do? Send chocolates and flowers?

I get it, though, your frustration because Compassion is much more powerful than Condemnation.

Luckily there’s something we can do as young adults.

Hold ourselves to a higher moral standard and do the same for our children one day. There’s hope for our world. And it begins with you and me!

Chin up.”

Then it got me thinking..

What is going on with our society?

She has a point. Doesn’t she?

Hundreds of Girls get pregnant before they are married or out of high school.

Luckily the statistics are changing for the better, but it’s no where near where it should be.

8 out of 10 teen dads don’t marry the mother of their child.

That. That is wrong.

Let me talk about the Government.

In today’s times, despite whatever actions brought us here, we are the military power of the world and it comes with dire responsibility.

Whether or not you believe we should have such a large military presence, that’s not going to change, but is true?

Is the Government looking out for us?

Our troops?

We’ve tasked the government with so many things its loosing control.

The IRS harasses citizens because of their political views.
The NSA invades our privacy in the name of security by sacrificing our liberties.
The Supreme Court infringes every religion with a recent ruling on top of disregarding the Constitution on a regular basis.
Our Justice Department is no longer interested in justice and liberty but in political correctness and race biting.
A President who leads from behind, blatantly LIES to the American people and has no integrity whatsoever.
A Vice President who is a total IDIOT.

We have a state department that ignores security threats, carelessly letting men die, then shriveling away from our enemies giving them a sense of satisfaction.

Is war abroad the real question?

Seems to me, it roots right here.

It doesn’t have to be this way.
