None other than Former Governor of Arkansas, 2008 Republican Primary Candidate for the Presidential Nomination, and host of Huckabee on Fox News Channel, Mike Huckabee.
Who’s Mike Huckabee?
Before entering politics, Huckabee was a pastor at several baptist churches from 1980 to 1992 and served as the Arkansas Baptist State Convention President from 1989 to 1991.
As Bill Clinton was sworn in as President, in 1992, and Lieutenant Governor Jim Tucker, naturally, filled the position of Governeor, Huckabee ran in the special election for Lt. Governor and won 51-49 to Nate Coulter. Then in 1996, as Huckabee has plans on running for an open senate seat with no republican primary competition, Governor Tucker was convicted of mail fraud and after much controversy was forced to resign; ultimately, Huckabee suspended his intentions on running for the US Senate to fulfilled the duties of Governor until 2006.
Huckabee announced on January 28th, 2007 in an interview on Meet the Press, that he was running for President. He would win eight primary states before withdrawing on March 4th, of 2008. Huckabee was speculated to have been considered for the Vice Presidential Nomination before being passed up by, then Alaska Governor, Sarah Palin.
In 2010, CNN held a poll with Huckabee as the Republican Nominee for President against President Obama with Huckabee winning said poll. In 2012, Huckabee said this, “All the factors say ‘go’, but my heart says ‘no”
Now Mike Huckabee resides at Fox News as a talk show host for weekend evenings, giving insightful commentary on the latest controversy and news over the past week, often coming to the conclusion that America problems root from secularism. Just recently, Huckabee decided not to renew his contract with Cumulus Media, ceasing his radio show, the Huckabee Report. This causes many to believe that Huckabee will being planning to run with his newfound time.
